This FREE event takes place in beautiful Heritage Park in downtown Olympia, the day before the Capital City Marathon.
The race is open to anyone in 8th grade or younger. This is a flat 1.2 mile course for participants ages zero to fourteen who can walk, jog, or run while friends,
family and supporters cheer them through the line. Ribbons for all finishers!
There is an award for the first boy and first girl. The race celebrates participation and being active, therefore, it is not officially timed nor do we publish kid run race times.
Runners can run the 1.2 mile race on May 17, 2025, or they can run 25 one mile runs in the weeks leading up to May 17 followed by the 1.2 mile race to total 26.2 miles. Participants who choose to run the full marathon (26.2) distance will receive a medal to represent their accomplishment. All runners will receive a finishers ribbon for the 1.2 mile run. Several one mile running routes with maps are available to those desiring some adventure and new scenery. Download and print this checkoff list if you are running the full marathon (26.2 miles) – 1 mile at a time!
