General Event Information

Refunds, deferrals, and transfers
We do not offer refunds. However, if you're unable to participate, we can defer your entry to the following year or transfer your registration to another person. If you need to defer or transfer your registration, email registration@ccmaboard.org. Please do not give your race number to another person as that can unfairly impact the results and other runners’ awards.

Location
Sylvester Park in downtown Olympia is the main hub of event activity for the marathon, half marathon, and five mile on race weekend. Packet pick-up, on-site registration, and the Run Fair all happen in the park. The marathon, half marathon, and five mile races start and finish on the roads adjacent to the park. Directions to Registration/Sylvester Par-5 Northbound or Southbound: Take Exit 105 "State Capitol" exit. Turn right on Capitol Way and travel 8 blocks. Sylvester Park is right across the street from the Governor Hotel.

Note: Kids' Run activities are in Heritage Park, near Water Street and Legion Way SW in downtown Olympia, three blocks west of Sylvester Park.

Finish Line Etiquette
Please be considerate of other runners and help keep everyone safe. Do not stop or stand under the finish line arch to take photos. We also discourage families crossing the finish line with their runners. If your family does cross the line with you, please clear the finish line area quickly.

Parking
Parking is available within walking distance of Sylvester Park. Parking is allowed on local streets without having to pay the parking meters. The event is held on a Sunday, so please do not park in church parking lots.

Number of runners
We expect to have about 350 in the Marathon, 1,400 in the Half Marathon, and 600 in the Five Mile.

Run Fair
The Run Fair is the Capital City Marathon's exposition event. Sponsors and local businesses offer materials and merchandise to participants and visitors in Sylvester Park from noon - 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Sunday, which corresponds with registration and packet pick-up on Saturday and the races on Sunday. Sponsors and businesses interested in participating in the Run Fair, see the Run Fair materials page.

Pacers: Pacers will be available for the marathon and half marathon. Pacer target times will be posted on the race pages closer to race weekend.

Award Categories
Three major awards are given for each race:
• Overall (fastest male, female, and non-binary participants)
• Masters (fastest male and female, age 40+)
• Grand Masters (fastest male and female, age 50+)

Awards are also given three deep in five-year age divisions for males and females:
• Marathon and half marathon - the divisions begin with "19 and under" and end at "80 and over".
• The five mile race has the above age divisions as well as "14 and under" and "15 - 19".
The major award winners are factored out of the age group divisions. A runner can only receive one award.

Race award winners are determined as follows - in the following order: 1) Race winners (first male, first female) receive Overall awards; 2) Fastest male and female 40 years of age and above receive Master awards; 3) Fastest male and female 50 years of age and above receive Grand Master awards; 4) Three fastest runners in each age division receive age group awards.

Results will be available in the park on race day and available on our website.

Lost and Found
Lost & Found will be located in the registration area race weekend. Starting Monday after the race, the Lost & Found will be moved to South Sound Running.

Limitations
For safety and insurance reasons: no dogs, no bicycles, no roller blades, no in-line skates, and no wheeled vehicles (except registered wheelchairs). Violators may be disqualified.

The use of personal music devices are strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, the Capital City Marathon Association encourages a headphone-free environment while running any of the races.

There are no walking categories, but walkers are welcome in the Half Marathon and Five Mile.
